The Airbus A.319 is a shorter version of the popular Airbus A.320 airliner. They began entering service in 1996 and since then over 1,500 have been manufactured in factories in Germany and China.
The A.319 is the third version of the Airbus A.320 narrow body airliner series.
The first A.320 made its first flight on 22 February 1987 and they began entering service in 1988.
A stretched version, the A.321, first flew in 1993 and the shortened version, the A.319, first flew in 1995 and entered service in April 1996.
The A.319 version is virtually identical to the A.320 and shares a common flight rating with other A.320 series aircraft so pilots can fly it without the need for further A.320 training.
It is a direct competitor with the Boeing 737-300 and -700 airlines and is very popular with 1,480 delivered by August 2019.
