From 1981 the AMX 10RC has given the French Army a reconnaissance vehicle to operate in dangerous environments and provide fire support. Many were upgraded in the 2000s and will remain in service for many years.
The AMX 10RC was designed in 1970 to give the French Army a powerful reconnaissance vehicle and tank destroyer.
Apart from some automotive components it has little in common with the AMX 10P infantry combat vehicle.
Production began in 1976 and they began entering service with the French Army in 1981.
Over 300 were produced for France and an additional 120 vehicles were sold to Morocco and Qatar.
They have seen service with France in the Western Sahara War, the Gulf War and Afghanistan.
From 2002 to 2010 a total of 255 were re-manufactured and saw their first employment to the French Foreign Legion in 2006.
This model represents an AMX 10RC in service with the French Army in the 1980s.
