The Messerchmitt Bf109 was an important fighter in the Luftwaffe during World War II.
The Bf109G-14 was the final version of the G series which incorporated all the improvements previously made to the Bf109G.
They began entering service in uly 1944
This Bf109G-14 was flown by Hauptmann Franze Dorr, Kommodore of II/JG 5 ‘Eismeer’ in May 1945.
He flew from 1941 with JG 3 in the invasion of Poland and was credited with 128 victories from 437 combat missions mainly, on the Eastern Front against Soviet forces.
This model represents his aircraft in May 1945 when he was based at Gossen in Norway when III/JG 5 surrendered to allied forces. JG 5 contributed many intact aircraft to the allied forces at the time of the May 1945 surrender, mostly in good condition.
