The Vought F4U Corsair was one of the most powerful aircraft to see service flying from aircraft carriers during World War II. They were very useful and successful so they continued in service with several air force well after that war.
The Vought F4U-5 was an improved version of earlier F4Us and first flew at the end of 1945. The -5N version was equipped with radar.
Argentina acquired its F4U-5s in 1956 and 1957 including eight F4U-5NLs in May 1957.
They served with the Argentine navy until they were replaced by Grumman F9Fs in the mid 1960s.
This model represents a F4U-5NL flown by Escuadrilla de Caza Nocturna, Armada Argentina in the late 1950’s.
